Batten Down the Hatches

I know I keep harping on this red, orange and green image of the United States. I’m reminded of a time when we are warned of a huge snow event.

We all prepare and plan to stay in and wait, watch the snow fall and hope the power does not go out. If you are fortunate, you can stay in and not go to work, but some will not have that luxury and need to show up and go out; medical, food suppliers; snow plows; etc. The less people that are out in the snow, the safer it is (less people on the roads).

So when I see that some states are not green yet, they are taking risks with themselves and with others. Until we are all sheltering in place, the pandemic will continue.

As of today April 2, there are eleven orange states and the one hold out, South Dakota which is red. Once all states shelter in place, we will be able to wait for the storm to pass and hopefully in a safe place with family.

On a more positive note, we are making progress. The below image is from this link of the Coronavirus Outbreak Map, New York Times.

As you can see, Mainland China is on the road to recovery as is Italy and Spain. The United States is slowing thanks to those of us sheltering in place, waiting for the storm to pass.
