In my many years, I’ve had the opportunity to be around these little kids.
I have to say, happiness was always there, beside me, full and real and present.
I do not know what it is exactly about them that does this to me.
Perhaps it’s the way they play, for no reason at all, just because.
They are happy to see me.
I am happy to see them.
I do not need to bring them food, but there is the chance I would.
They jump and move and climb and land.
They look to me to do the same and smile and play.
It is not often they want to be picked up, but when they do, there is a reason.
It is their way to say … this is my happy place too.
