Roots Desire

The soil does not question the desires of the roots, but allows them to grow.

She holds water and food for the growing plant,

and does not ask for anything in return.

The roots embrace her slowly,

strongly and lovingly-

And then-

The plant blossoms and gives the beauty of their collaboration to us all-

We marvel in their life, so beautiful we see,

as we ponder our own,

as we love each other as they do.

Until one day,

when the plant’s life is spent and time above due,

withers in the waning sunlight and drops to the ground,

kissing, ever so softly,

the soil below,

thanking her for the journey above.

And then-

Together again they grow-

The soil does not question the desires of the roots,

but simply is there to love,

and to dream of the flower to come.
